Jorge Lorenzo claimed did not expect to win easily in the San Marino GP, Sunday, September 4, 2011. 2010 MotoGP world champion praised the hard work of Yamaha.
Lorenzo leading the race at Misano Circuit since first lap. Despite continued being followed Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda) until mid-race, Spaniard successfully defended his position with a comfortable advantage until the end of the race with up to 7 seconds.
Stoner has slipped to third position after overtaken Dani Pedrosa. A victory that makes Lorenzo cut out of Stoner at the top to just 35 points.
"I expect a fierce rivalry with Casey, but Casey unfortunately little loss of speed in the middle of the race and I was able to win two in Italy. This victory is very important," Lorenzo said as quoted by Autosport.
Lorenzo then praised the hard work of Yamaha who never gave up keeping pace with Honda.
"We never gave up and worked hard. This team (Yamaha) perform extraordinary tasks to give me a competitive bike at this track. Throughout the weekend we played fast," said Lorenzo.
Previous Stoner claimed the main reason for failing to win at Misano because his stamina is declining in the mid-race. (sj)
